NELL HEWITT (published on October 31, 2009)

NELL HEWITT (1919 2009) Peacefully with family at her side, Nell Hewitt, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, passed away on October 29 at the Betel Home in Selkirk, MB. Nell will be missed by her sons, Patrick (Mary), Brent (Theresa) and Gerry (Carol), and her grandchildren, Ryan, Lisa and Darren and her sister Rose Tanach. Nell was born on May 10, 1919, in Chatfield, MB. She grew up on the family farm and had fond memories of her life on the farm. She married Fred Hewitt on December 2, 1941. Their married life began in Flin Flon, MB and they later settled in Selkirk, MB. Nell's home in Selkirk was her refuge. She created an environment that was inviting and restful. Nell was a great cook and always enjoyed trying new recipes and baking old favourites. She enjoyed gardening, reading and music. She always looked forward to shopping trips to Winnipeg and Grand Forks, but would also just be content with going for a cup of coffee in town. Nell was predeceased by her husband Fred, parents Catherine and Dmytro Strogrin, sisters Anne and Katie, brothers John, Nick and Emil. The family wishes to thank the staff at Selkirk Betel Home for their loving and compassionate care. The staff took great care in sustaining the pride that Mom took in her appearance and her room. In keeping with Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will be held. Rest in peace Mom. We will miss you and love you always. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
