ROSE DALMYN (published on February 23, 2010)

ROSE DALMYN March 30, 1927 - February 19, 2010 It is with great sadness that the family of Rose Dalmyn announces her passing on February 19, 2010 at Calvary Place Personal Care Home at the age of 82 years. Married almost 58 years, Rose leaves a lifetime of cherished and loving memories with her devoted husband Ron. Mom will be deeply missed by her children Tony (of Victoria, BC), Cam (Andrea), Joyce (Joe Masi), Frank (Janice) and Teresa (Gord) Fleury; grandchildren Claire (of Toronto), David (of Halifax), Steven, Eric, Carly (Dave) Peterson, Korey, Jennifer, Paula (of Australia) and Stuart and great-grandsons Benjamin and Jackson. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her siblings Tilly (Pierre) deKeuster of Belgium, Remi Lammens of the Netherlands; sisters-in-law Phelo (Omer) Van Wauwe of Belgium and Jo (Eddy) Olfers of The Netherlands and many nieces, nephews, and cousins, all overseas. After delivering over 100 babies in The Netherlands, mom left her midwife career to marry the love of her life Ron. She and dad immigrated to Canada in 1952 landing at Pier 21 in Halifax and making their way west after 18 months working on farms in Quebec. They spent most of their years in the family home on King Edward Street in St. James. Mom took up residence at Calvary Place Personal Care Home in 2008. Dad joined her there in 2009, so that he could care for her, and keep her company. With no relatives in Canada, mom and dad enjoyed their times with our Dutch friends, the Nieuwenburgs, Verdurmens, Kuypers, and Ruigroks. Mom was adopted by her special neighbours (all of whom have predeceased her), Lena Berard, Emma Billings, Mrs. Barker, Mrs. Jones, Muzzie McLellan. Through St. Ann's Church, mom made many lasting friendships including Lorraine, Marilyn, Barb, Pat, Jean, Alma and many others. Mom enjoyed her shopping excursions with Belle McCann and her ladies lunches with the Church ladies. Mom liked to garden with dad, was always busy with something, and drew great enjoyment from her grandchildren. Mom appreciated her visitors at Calvary Place. They were greeted with mom's big smile. We are grateful that mom continued to recognize all of us until the time of her passing. Cremation has taken place. Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church, 271 Hampton Street in Winnipeg. Interment will take place at a later date. The family wishes to thank the staff at Calvary Place 2North for their wonderful and loving care of our mom. We also wish to thank Sr. Alice, Nina, Lorraine and Marilyn for their frequent visits. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1P6 or the Alzheimer's Society, Unit 10 - 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 4G2, would be appreciated. Mom's life was in our success. Thank you, we'll miss you mom. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
