EARL JOHN STEINTHORSON (published on April 14, 2010)

EARL JOHN STEINTHORSON May 2, 1955 - April 11, 2010 Peacefully with his family by his side, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Husband, Dad, Afi (Grandpa), son and brother Earl John Steinthorson of Gunton, MB on Sunday, April 11, 2010. Left to mourn his passing, his beloved wife Kathy, children Sheryl (Myles) Taylor and Daryl. He was a very special Afi to grand-children Colby and Natalie. Also left to mourn is mother Ellen, sister Dawn Broadfoot (Al), mother-in-law Nina Broadfoot, brothers-in-law Numi (Diane), Rick (Melody), Grant (Lorna), many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Predeceased by his father Ragnar, brother Dale, father-in-law John, brothers-in-law Vince and Jim and nephew Tyler. Dad loved camping, fishing, hunting, riding his Harley, walk-abouts and welding. He spent many hours pulling the kids around the lake waterskiing when they were young. Dad spent many years camping at Long Point on Lake Manitoba making many memories with his family and friends. Dad loved to weld and over the years made many projects, the last project he planned and supervised was building the dock for the kids at Steep Rock. Dad had to make sure things were done right, Daryl and Myles did the welding and had to cover things quick if they weren't up to Dad's standards. Dad enjoyed many good times over the years going fishing, hunting and jam can curling in our backyard in Stonewall with family and friends. Dad liked going for rides on his Harley Davidson. Dad worked for Motorcoach for many years and his last job he went to Northern Alberta and worked with J.V. Driver at Jack Pine Mine, he made it out west to work and loved it there. Ride Free Earl, Dad and Afi on your Harley in the sky and watch over us. A celebration of Dad's life will be held Friday, April 16, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel in Stonewall, MB. Wear your jeans and T-shirts if you like, that's the way Earl/Dad would have wanted it. Thank you to Dr. Mohamdee, Dr. Hall, Kristin and Jill at Providence Medical Clinic. Dr. Czaykowski and nurse Dennise at CancerCare, Dr. West and nurse Janice at Gamma Knife Surgery, Dr. Graham and all the nurses and Health Care Aids at Stonewall Hospital for all they did. Nurse Kim for the Tim's coffee and doughnuts in the middle of the last long night, that was above and beyond the call of duty. To Lois and Brenda at Homecare and Sharon, Earl's Homecare Nurse, for all that every one of you did for Earl so he could stay home as long as possible. Thanks also to Vera at Palliative Care. Donations may be made to Southwest District Palliative Care. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements
