PATRICIA EVELYN CAMPBELL (published on October 30, 2010)

PATRICIA EVELYN CAMPBELL It is with heavy hearts we announce Mum's peaceful passing on Friday, October 22, 2010 at the Grace Hospital. Left to cherish Mum's memory is her only daughter, Valerie Waller (Richard) and grandchildren, Meaghan and Matthew, who will dearly miss her. She is predeceased by husband Ron; both parents; and sister Dorothy Mills. Eve was born on September 27, 1925 to George and Margaret Ritchie (nee Robertson) in Edinburgh, Scotland. On October 26, 1944 she married her childhood sweetheart, Ronald Adams Campbell and they were married for 63 years before his passing in 2008. Family and friends were very important to Mum. When I was growing up she always opened our home to my friends. Every Friday or Saturday, depending on game day, Mum would feed the entire Burlington Mohawks Jr. B. hockey team. She was a fantastic cook, an avid gardener, a cat lover and a very intuitive lady who could read you without you knowing. Mum loved to tell stories about her experiences growing up in Scotland, the war, our trip crossing the Atlantic to live in Canada, and the hardships faced in a new country and not knowing a single person but being helped by so many generous people who became lifelong friends. My parents loved their annual trips to Myrtle Beach, S.C., and in later years they spent their winters in Port Richie, Florida where they made many friends. The grandchildren have lots of special memories of their visits to Nana and Grampa in Florida and their visits to Disney World. As per Mum's wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. She will be laid to rest at a later date. I would like to extend a thank you to all the wonderful doctors and nurses at the Grace Hospital who did their very best to get Mum back home. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to The Grace Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Street, Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7. Fly with the angels Mum! We will always love and remember you.
